Sony has revealed the PlayStation games that gamers downloaded the most in 2023 across both PS4 and PS5 platforms in the US, Canada and Europe. The data reveals the popularity of several genres, with sports games, Rockstar Games, Call of Duty and Hogwarts Legacy leading the way.
Sports games dominate the PlayStation Store
Sports games dominated the PS4 and PS5 charts, appearing on 20 of the 80 total charts. Rockstar games appeared on seven charts and Call of Duty games on six. Hogwarts Legacy, an action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe, topped the PS5 chart in the US and Canada, demonstrating its widespread popularity.
It was followed by other notable titles including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Madden NFL 24 and NBA 2K24. In Europe, EA Sports FC topped the PS5 chart, closely followed by Hogwarts Legacy, Modern Warfare 3, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Spider-Man 2.
In the PS4 charts, Modern Warfare 3 took the top spot in the US and Canada, while Hogwarts Legacy, MLB The Show 23, Madden NFL 24 and NBA 2K24 rounded out the top five. In Europe, EA Sports FC topped the PS4 chart, with Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto 5 and FIFA 23 making up the rest of the top five.
On PlayStation VR and VR2, Pavlov was the most downloaded game on both regions, followed by Beat Saber, Kayak VR: Mirage, Job Simulator and Superhot VR. Free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Roblox and Call of Duty: Warzone also took the top three spots in the US and Canada, as well as Europe.
